At Durban, we believe that giving back is one of the most important things a business can do. While we spend our days caring for landscapes across Victoria, we know that our greatest impact isn't always measured by the gardens we maintain—sometimes it's measured by the kindness we show to others.
Each year, as winter approaches and the temperatures begin to drop, the Durban team heads to either the Bonds Outlet or Best&Less with one mission in mind: filling our baskets with brand-new winter clothing for children.
From cosy pyjamas and jumpers to warm track pants, jackets, and blankets, we purchase clothing for children of all ages before donating it to MSFIN (Mums Supporting Families In Need).
It's become one of our favourite traditions each year!
Winter in Victoria Can Be Tough
Victorian winters can be bitterly cold.
While many of us head home to warm houses, heaters and full wardrobes, the reality is that many families are facing incredibly difficult circumstances. For some parents, choosing between paying bills, putting food on the table or buying warm clothing for their children is a heartbreaking reality.
Every child deserves to feel warm, safe and comfortable during winter.
Something as simple as a warm jumper or a new pair of pyjamas can make an enormous difference—not only physically, but emotionally too.
Knowing a child can head to school warm and confident is something no family should have to go without.
Baskets Full of Kindness
Our annual shopping trip has become something we genuinely look forward to.
There's always plenty of discussion over which jackets to buy, which onesies to pick, whose basket is filling up the quickest, and making sure we've chosen clothing for babies right through to teens.
It's amazing how quickly our baskets fill when every item has been chosen with someone else in mind.
Every jumper, pair of pyjamas, beanie, and pair of socks we donate represents so much more than clothing.
It represents kindness. It represents hope. It represents a community looking after one another.

We're incredibly proud to support MSFIN (Mums Supporting Families In Need) and the incredible work they do every single day.
Their volunteers work tirelessly to ensure families experiencing hardship receive the practical support they need, restoring dignity and providing hope during challenging times.
Knowing these clothes will soon be keeping Victorian children warm throughout winter makes every donation worthwhile.
