The Dirt: Durban Gives Back – Growing Roots in Our Community

At Durban Landscaping & Garden Maintenance, we know that strong communities don’t just happen – they’re built by people who care enough to contribute. That’s why giving back is part of who we are. Whether it’s through hands-on work or acts of support, we believe in playing a meaningful role beyond garden gates and lawn edges.

In this edition of The Dirt, we’re proud to share two recent ways we’ve been giving back – supporting vulnerable families and helping a local sports club flourish.

Donating to MSFIN – Mums Supporting Families In Need

Recently, the Durban team gathered together to donate brand-new clothing to MSFIN (Mums Supporting Families In Need) – a grassroots charity doing incredible work for local families experiencing hardship.

From babywear to teen gear these new clothes are going straight into the hands of people who need them most – families facing financial difficulty, homelessness, or crisis situations.

At a time when the cost of living continues to rise, organisations like MSFIN offer critical support. And for us, contributing isn’t just about giving material goods – it’s about uplifting dignity and sharing hope. We’re proud to play even a small part in their mission.

Partnering with Keilor Football Club: Greener Grounds, Stronger Roots

We’ve also been getting our hands dirty in the best way – partnering with Keilor Football Club to help enhance their newly upgraded facilities.

As part of the clubhouse revitalisation, Durban has supported the club by building and planting fresh garden beds, bringing life and vibrancy to the space. Using tough, low-maintenance native plants and thoughtful design, the green additions have added beauty and warmth to a place already full of pride. Shout out to the Durban Crew - Craig, Mato & Shane for putting in the hard yards in getting this done.

But our connection to Keilor Football Club runs far deeper than a landscaping project.

Durban's veins run deep in the Keilor sporting precinct – in fact, it’s personal. George Lucas, a proud part of our family story, was the Keilor Gift Winner in 1962 – an iconic local sprint race that celebrates athleticism and community spirit. Since then, generations of the Lucas family have played, trained, and supported the local football club, making it a place filled with personal legacy and community pride.

This isn’t just another job for us – it’s about giving back to a place that helped shape us.

Why Community Support Matters

Supporting our community isn’t a PR move – it’s the natural outgrowth of our values. As gardeners and landscapers, we understand what it means to nurture something over time. That’s how we see community involvement too – an investment that yields real, lasting impact.

Whether it’s new clothes for a struggling family or fresh soil and plants for a local club, it all matters. It strengthens connections. It fosters pride. It shows we care.

Let's Keep Growing Together

As Durban continues to grow, so too will our efforts to give back. We’ll keep showing up – for our clients, for our partners, and for the people and places that make this community home.

Thanks for reading The Dirt. If you know a local cause or initiative that could use our support, feel free to reach out. We’re always ready to lend a hand.

Until next time – stay kind, stay grounded, and keep it green.
